All Urantia Book readers from the Southeast are invited to come and stay at the large, comfortable Inn of the beautiful Valle Crucis Conference Center: www.highsouth.com/vallecrucis This retreat site is set in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, near Boone. Summertime is spectacular here – mild temperatures, lots of outdoor recreation, natural beauty in close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway for sightseeing by car, and the Appalachian Trail for hiking and backpacking, and only a few hours from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There’s whitewater rafting and kayaking, horseback riding, trout fishing, camping in national forests and so much more! Rooms, 6 meals and meeting spaces are included in the price of $150 plus a $25 registration fee per person: Fri, 8/19, with dinner, through lunch Sun., 8/21. The primary purpose being to get to know each other better, thereby strengthening our Urantia Community. How this retreat came to be…..
Twenty two years ago, Dean White and Billie Anderson in East Tennessee began to sponsor Saturday picnics in the mountains to celebrate Jesus’ birthday each August. Many people from the surrounding region came over the years, Now it seems it’s time to make this gathering a full weekend retreat in order to accommodate all those who may want to come and stay longer.
2010 was our first retreat; people from eight states attended. It was a great success. |
